Guru is the most commonly misused word. Guru could mean a teacher, a master (love-guru, baseball guru) and it could also mean dispeller of darkness (as in the Upanishads). In my terminology a guru is someone who guides without motive, who allows you to shine while he himself remains in the background, someone who brings the best in you. When that happens then the student outgrows the guru. A lot depends on the student’s devotion to the guru and the guru’s ability to mold the student. A true guru is like a true lover, when you meet them you fall in love and your every moment is ecstasy.
